Millions of people lose teeth every year either due to decay or an accident. Missing teeth can pose several problems for our patients - not only do they cause the rest of your teeth to move out of position over time, they also make people less willing to smile, decreasing their self-esteem. At the offices of Drs. Chin and Pharar, we can replace your missing tooth with a natural-looking dental implant that will leave you loving your smile again.

Dental implants are one of the most popular and effective restorative and cosmetic procedures available in our office. The implant itself is made up of three parts:

  1. The implant itself is a titanium, screw-like post that serves the role of an artificial root for your new tooth.
  2. The abutment is the component that sits atop the implant and holds the dental crown in place.
  3. The crown is the visible part of the implant which matches the appearance of your natural tooth.

The Procedure

Whether it's an urgent or restorative procedure, the process for receiving a dental implant is generally the same. The first step is to confirm whether or not you're a strong fit for implants. This boils down to whether or not you have good overall oral hygiene and a dense jawbone.

Upon approval, the real work begins. This involves incisions in your gum to give us room to operate. Then, we will insert the titanium replacement root. This looks and acts like a screw, as it will anchor your implant your jawbone.

In the past, you would have been sent home at this point with a temporary crown. However, with our CEREC® machine, we can cut, stain, and insert your crown to your implant in the same visit. With our breakthrough technology, your implant will be identical to your teeth, as we match the shape, size, and color exactly.

However, before your crown is attached, we must place the abutment. This is no more than a bridge that holds the crown onto the post (implant screw). These are unnoticeable, as they are just under the gumline.

Once we send you home, your recovery begins with osteointegration. This is when your new titanium implant fuses with your jawbone, giving you your natural bite force back. This generally isn't painful, but you will be sore. We will walk you through how to manage pain and best practices before sending you off.

Why Trust Us?

We have the experience and focus on patient comfort to make your procedure a breeze. With us, you can trust an effective and comfortable treatment that will make you love to smile again.

Furthermore, we won't be sending you home with an ill-fitting temporary crown. Not all dentists utilize the CEREC® machine. We do, allowing us to provide veneers, crowns, and dentures on the same day!
