What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin prosthetic shells, shaped and colored to match the appearance of your natural teeth and used to cover small imperfections. Since these only attach to the visible side of the enamel, they can mask the following conditions:

  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Discoloring
  • Chips
  • Close gaps
  • Correct the shape of the tooth

Am I a Good Candidate for Dental Veneers?

Most people are excellent candidates for dental veneers. So long as you have a generally healthy smile, you'll qualify for this effective cosmetic option. Here's what makes a good candidate for veneers:

  • Overall healthy tooth
  • No underlying gum disease
  • No existing infection

If you have bruxism, that would also prevent you from receiving veneer treatment. This condition is commonly known as teeth grinding. However, there are two forms of bruxism (daytime and nighttime), and both of them require treatment before you receive veneers.

How We Apply Your Veneers

When it comes time to fasten them to your teeth, the process is straightforward and quick. First, we will use a mild chemical on the teeth receiving a veneer. This solution will rough up the enamel just enough for securer fastening.

Once the prep work is complete, we will glue each veneer to its corresponding tooth one by one. To do so, we use a particular type of bonding cement, usually made of composite resin, which won't trigger any adverse effects upon application. The result is the permanent fastening of gorgeous veneers.

Benefits of Veneers

Porcelain veneers are just as hardy as enamel. With proper care, you can expect a lifetime of use. Even though they're tough, eating, doing sports, and using your teeth as tools, can still damage them as it would natural teeth. Further reasons of how porcelain veneers can benefit you:

  • Minimally invasive
  • Stain-resistant
  • Restores enamel strength and tooth functionality
  • Address multiple cosmetic concerns in one visit
  • Hyper-personalized treatment
  • Maintenance is as easy as brushing and flossing
